Trump’s rollbacks ARE environmental racism. Add your name to the petition!

Attempts to roll back significant environmental protections including the Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Car Standards, Endangered Species Act, and more will disproportionately affect Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities for the benefit of corporate polluters. We know that race best predicts whether a person lives near polluted toxic sites. And that Black Americans experience 56% more air pollution than others, relative to how much pollution they produce, while White Americans experience 17% less pollution than others, relative to what they produce.

We also know that air pollution causes respiratory and cardiovascular issues that are the pre-existing conditions making individuals more susceptible to COVID-19.

With an unprecedented public health and economic crisis underway at the local, state, and federal levels, we demand that the Trump administration prioritizes protecting people, not providing a clear giveaway to corporate polluters.

Public health and how we treat our environment go hand-in-hand. We must address the impending climate crisis now and protect low-income communities and communities of color who are bearing the burden of industrial pollution and COVID-19 impacts.

We desperately need scientific, data-driven decisions before it’s too late. With the less than 10 years we have to prevent climate catastrophe and communities suffering from polluted air and water, the Trump administration is endangering people and our planet by promoting polluter interests. It’s unbelievable that industrial polluters are poisoning our air and water and endangering our lives and getting a free pass, even during a global health crisis.

From rolling back key vehicle efficiency standards to reducing our ability to protect communities against water pollution, the Trump administration is setting a dangerous precedent.

We demand that the Trump administration prioritizes public health, not helping polluting industries.
